Connect 4

I was playing Connect 4 with my six year old son quite a bit. He also likes to play games on the computer so I decided to create an online version of Connect 4. You can play too at the link below.

YouTube Animated Channel Icon

It seems a lot of YouTube users cannot figure out how to create an animated icon for their profile. Here’s a video I made explaining how to do it.

You can check out some more of my videos on YouTube here.

Paranormal Activity 2

It’s Halloween time again so I thought I’d post this for anyone who hasn’t seen it. It is quite frightening.

Get the type of Outlook.Items.Item

So you wrote some code to iterate through your MailItems in the Outlook inbox and everything looks fine. Then one day you get a type mismatch error and you’re like wtf. After a little research you come to find out that the inbox can contain other types of items besides MailItems. So then you say fine I’ll just add an If then statement to check the type of item but then you ask yourself where is the type property of the Items.Item(). Not all objects in Outlook are strongly type and Items.Item() is one of them. You actually want to use the class property of the item not the type property.

As in
Items.Item(1).Class

This property will return a number that can be used to detemine the class. For example,
If it is a MailItem the property will return 43
If it is a ReportItem the property will return 46

Search the Object Browser for OlObjectClass to see the enumeration for all classes.
Or see this link
OlObjectClass Enumeration

The following code will print the class property of all the items in the inbox to the immediate window.

Private Sub GetItemClass()

    Dim olItems As Outlook.Items
    Dim i As Integer

    Set olItems = Outlook.GetNamespace(“MAPI”) _

       .GetDefaultFolder(olFolderInbox).Items

    For i = 1 To olItems.Count
        Debug.Print olItems.Item(i).Class
    Next

End Sub

eBay non-paying bidders

I’ve been using eBay for about ten years now and for the most part I am usually just a buyer. I have auctioned about ten items though. Out of those ten items I have had three non-paying winners. I don’t get it. What makes people do this? The latest person, Lisa Seelinger (flmmakr14) placed a bid on some software I had listed. She won the auction and I sent her an invoice but I never heard back from her. A few days later she closed her account. I was refunded my final value fee but it was still an inconvenience and a waste of my time. So to all you non-payers please live up to your end of the deal and follow through on your payment or you might end up on someone’s blog saying what a deadbeat you are.

We are live!

I guess it’s working. Pretty easy to install. Need something to write about now.
